Date based on an article, found by Doug Harris, in The Morning Post of Dec. 18th 1863, entitled “Illustrated Books for Christmas”, discussing “Ye Book of Sense, Illustrated.  Torquay Royal Library.  London: Whittaker & Co.”  It is described as “just appeared”.
