Rose at 5¼. Greek ― 6 to 8. Ξένοφων.1 ― Very cold & cloudy all day ― the coldest day I have known at Corfû: wind sharp. ―

Painted at Lord C.‘s Athos ― “whiles” badly ― at other times better. By φιτς,2 wrote Greek exercises, & letters. At 4½, walked out, to the 1 Gun battery & back: exceedingly cold: a canopy of gray & snowy cloud. At 6½ Campbell came, & we 2 dined quietly ― & with a good deal of quiet talk. He is going over to  Βυζικλεὸ3 tonight. Papadoπουλος has sent word that he cannot come tomorrow ― poor old boy.
