Slept ill. Read a good deal. Cloudy & windy damp morning. ― Little odds & ends ― bills &c. ― Papadopoulos came ― poor man, ill with rupture or diabetes, & unable to go on teaching. Post; letters from Hansen, & A. Stanley. & a delightful one from C.F. Worked till 4, when F.L. called & asked me to go to one gun, which is very kind & brave of him. ― Wettish walk, & windy but pleasant in a way. ― Steward of the Engineers dined with me ― a modest & intelligent good lad. ― Wrote to C.F. & Foord’s.
