Rose at 7½. Finer. Letter from J. Harford. ― Wrote to Lady Reid ―. Breakfast. John C. looked at drawings ― & at 12.30 he & Elizabeth went. A very solid good is J.S.C. & happy. ―
Then came Mr. & Mrs. Grams ― (a vulgar woman ―) & Miss Napier ― bright & intelligent ― & I shewed them my drawings: ― very pleasant altogether. While they staid, Mr. Warrington was announced. Mrs. H. was agitated. ― At Lunch, Mr. W. a very real person ― cockney lingo ― but with no affectation. ― Afterwards ― the window ―: very good. ― Mrs. H. ― Miss H. ― all the servants: ―――
At 5. I took out Warrington for a walk.
Returned at 6.30. Dinner at 6.45. ―
Mr. W. went at 7. ―
Evening ― I pranced. Mrs. H. read. J.S.C.’s journal.
I read much of the memoranda concerning Mr. H.’s death.
