Rose at 7 ― very cold. ― Wrote letters to Ann C.F. Lady W. ― Mrs Evans, S.W.C. ― Penrhyn &c. ――
Worked all day at Barnes’s Jerusalem, & finished it. At 6½ ― dined at the Bethells‘s. Lady B. in one of her worst states. I, Ellen, & Gussie only. Later came in Sir R. who talked a good deal about R. & other things ― G. & Corfû to boot. The Chancellorship is plainly ahead. I am to dine there on Tuesday next.
Walked home by 11.
