Colder ― if possible. Last packings. Paying bills ―――
Cab to Farrant’s & other places. Chappell of Cramer’s out. At 2.30 came to Brighton Rail ― meeting B. Husey Hunt there. At Lewes by 5.20. Cold horribly intense. ― Dinner ―Mr. H. & Julia S. ― Pleasant: but [ye] cold is very bad. ―
My dear John Proby died on the 19th. Strange dream of life! May I find it more & more real by thus contemplating its wonderful past & present.
