― Weather not so cold, but I, hoarse, & asthmatic & unwell. ―

Worked but little, as all these 27 persons came ― & I had to go through the lectures. ― Afterwards, Gibbs came: & Chetwode sent to purchase the Philæ, for 150 dollars ― the first work I sell here in 1859. Then I walked with Gibbs round the Borghese ― tho’ I was unwell; G. is essentially a good fellow. ― Dressed & to Mr. Woodward’s ― Mr. Hay, H.B. Mathew, & Mr. Church. Good & pleasant dinner. Evening ― Miss Webb, & Gibbs. ― Cold at home bad.
