The weather is always the same now ― fine & bright. But I am more unwell today ― cough bad: ― very bad at times. After a short walk on the Pincian, where all was summer ― I drew ― &, barring a call from Sir J. Duckworth & S.W.C. ― I worked till 4. When Williams came & we walked round the Borghese. Damp & cold streets.

At 6 to Miss Cushman’s. Miss Hormon, & Miss Stebbins ― a Mr. Cushman, Gibson & a Mr. Percival Bailey: all agreable ― dinner excellent & pleasant. & afterwards, 2 Martins, 2 Tildons, Telford & some few others ―. Some goodish music, & some really good singing from Miss Cushman. Home before 11. Poor G. always seems sulky when sleepy. ―
