X10 Rose at 8. Weather cloudy ― & warmer ― the first change. ― Wrote to F.L. after breakfast & read last year’s journals ― perhaps so far a useful task that one is somewhat reconciled thus to the present. ― But the irritation of body & mind is fearful ― & again X11 ― sad & weary grief. ―
At 1 S.W.C. called ― & good Terry. Letters from Lady Stratford, Gibbs &c.. ― At 3½ went to church, & afterwards with S.W.C. around the Borghese. Returning, met the Chetwodes, & walked with them till 6. Dined with S.W.C. ― Cowper, & Hibbert, ― on the whole, pleasant evening. ― Warmer ― thank goodness.
