Same wonderful hot weather. “Packed” ― & waited for Dickenson: ― but before he came ― a letter from W. Newsom, saying that on Saturday they had heard of Harriet’s sudden death. ―
This brought all change of plans. Wrote to Lady Waldegrave & others. ― Went to C.F., but he was out, & also not at his office. Returning, ran against, beast Bowen. ― Late, saw C.F. & walked down to H. of C. with him. Returned to dine alone.
Very unwell. [Hy] Brandling came.
