Rose, having slept better, ― better, & earlier: at work by 6½.
Letters from W.N. ― Brie, Brandling, Dickenson, & Edw. Penrhyn: this last is odd enough. They have taken AT’s house at Freshwater for the Autumn ― from Aug. 9 & the Yeatmans of all people are to join them with their children!
Worked ― & wrote to people ― till newspaper time.
Day ― lovely & cooler.

Worked again: pretty steadily till 5. dinner. Soles & cold mutton & water. ― Work again till 7. Then at 7½ walked to Barham by the hill ― 8¾ . ― I wanted some Squills, Oleander, & Broom. ― Home by 10¼ tired
