At 2 A.M. after a difficult finding of the Steamer, crossed to Dover, ― a perfectly calm passage, ― & no bore from Customs, tho’ I fell asleep for an hour. Wash & breakfast at Warden Hotel. Off by 9. Ashford ― & the usual hubbub ― & at Hastings by 12. Albion Hotel. Looked at many lodgings ― & finally 119 Marina ― more suitable, in all respects, considering all sides of the case. Called on the W. Scrivens.
