Rose at 7. Sir John down at 8¾ ― cheerful & I think better than last year. At 9½ ― he took me to the Rail & goodnaturedly walked about the Platform till I left. And he seems liked by everybody! ―― Rail to Derby ― there by 1.20. Inconvenienced by “retention of urine.” ― Cab to Allestree. ― Mrs. Evans not to be seen ― the rest away. The Corfu struck me wonderfully ― & I am very glad I came to see it. ― Walked back & called on the Walter Evans. Cab to station. Rail & great irritation ― Leicester. X6. ― Old days of Barrow, Woodhome, & Charmwood forest! ―
Rugby ― wait 20 minutes. Train to London by 9¾. ― Called at Euston Sqr. Hotel. ― No Cortazzi there. ― Supper, found many letters.
