Rose at 5½, but no διδάσκαλος. Worked alone till 8. Worked at Walter’s picture all day. The Palace party did not come. Powys & Kirkwall did. The coldest day I have known here, snow down to the foot of  Salvador. At 3 or 4, letters from Ann, & from C.F. both nice. Finished their letters,1 & at 5 walked to one gun, meeting F.L. & walking back with him. Immense cold. Dined at Palace, Herberts, Eisenbachs, Kotzeris, [Epsom] &c. &c. ― Singing. Home by 11.
