Rose, al solito at 7.30. Very cold ― & bright. Went out to “Monaldini’s” & read papers & bought Dennis’s Etruria.1 ― Breakfast. ― Worked at a Jerusalem for Mrs. Empson. S.W.C. came in. At 2 ― (fuss about hanging the rooms, &c. ―) (& the cases are really come to the Dogana,) set off to P. Molle ― & drew there ― (eh! how cold & dusty=windy! ―) till 4.30. Came home & went to the “Belli Arti” to dine ― P.W. gone. ― Returned, half meaning to go to Mrs. Mcbean’s ― but could not resolve & do so. So, wrote 2 long letters, to Mrs. Hornby ― (from whom I had one in the day ―) & to W. Nevill. ― Overlooked G.’s writing & reading, & at 9.30 ― bed.
