Pretty nearly as cold ― but clearing ― & toward noon, fine.
Rose at 8 ― & suddenly finished the Walter’s ― & began a small painting of olives, ― at which I worked till 3½, when seeing Lushington going out, I joined him, & walked by the new Parguenote road round to the marshes & Potamó ― & nearer Corfu, we met Sir J.R. ― & all returned together. L.’s millenial corpse-like stiltiness contrasts oddly with the older Sir J.R.’s warmth & bustial=forth1 joviality. Certainly, good as I know L. to be, he is most mirabiliously unsatisfactory as a companion. ― At home by 6½. Dined alone. Wrote to Ann afterward. Sent (£2 in all) to Lady Valsamachi, Mrs. Loughman, & Lady Reid today, ― & Calabria to Clark. Kind notes from all.
Unwell all night ― diarrhoea.
