Rose. A dreary sadness ― though the weather is ever fine.
Paid G. 6 dollars ― out of his 14 of last month.
Greek lesson. & Homer. Worked at Lord Clermont’s Jerusalem ― off & on. Letter from Ann, & wrote to her. S.W.C. came ― & later Gibbs, to whom I had written that I could not go to Palestrina. He got me out, & we walked to the Circus of Maxentius. ― The day & destination were lovely.
Gibbs is a nice fellow. ― Returned, & promised S.W.C. to go to Tivoli with him. ― He & G. to dine with me tomorrow. ― At 7 dined at Knight’s ―
Large party ― Sherwood ― Turnbulls ― & very large evening party ― not unpleasant.
