Very little sleep till 3 A.M. ― Rose at 8.
Greek lesson. ― Irritable & sad ― at this prison life in this bright lovely weather.
Worked at Lord Clermont’s picture ― not very badly. John Gibson came.
At 4½ to P. Williams’ ― but he has a cold & can’t walk. To Galleries ―: A. Gallier has a boy 12½ years old!! ― How oddly those Civitella days come back. G. was then the liveliest & kindest-hearted fellow ― & is now a nice fellow ― tho’ not so lively. His drawing is beautiful & good ―his colour vile & ugly. ― Walked alone in the Borghese ― cold wind ― & bright sun.
Called on Mr. Hay ― dressing.
Home to dine ― & wrote a long letter to F.L. ― then some Greek.
