Little sleep. Rose unwell, & was more or less so all day.
Could hardly work, but did so at B. Hunt’s Jerusalem. ―
Nice letter from C. Church ― wh. I answered: ― he is not well though, & out of spirits. At 4½ or 5 walked with P. Williams.
I am always nearly reconciled to the isolate life I lead here, by the reflection that I avoid so much of this watering place littleness. At 6½ ― dined at Woodward’s. 2 Bertie Mathews only. Mrs. W. not so agreeable ― scrappy & queer I thought. The 2 Bills always nice, a Miss Howard afterwards. ―
