Rose before 6. & Greek lesson 7 to 8. Ever beautiful weather. ― Stupefied & half ill ― yet worked at Jánnina nearly all day by fits: ― reading at times ―Storey’s poems & Sheridan’s life. Towards 6 ―poor Giorgio looking at Janina said ― “ Εἶναι καλύτερη φύλακη ἀπὸ τοῦτα, δε [illegible] ἑμπορεῖ νὰ φύγου’ [?]λές.”1 ― I was struck by his saying ― “dico cosi, perciò che non mi piace star in una città: ― ma vengo qui con tè ― si ― ma vengo.”2 ― he is indeed a faithful good man, & I wish I were half as good. ―
At 7 to Stansfeld’s, where I passed a pleasant evening ― Mrs. S. “& Romulus” going on well. I sang & S. sang. ― I recall winters & Lives in many places & remember as much ill in all, perhaps.
Letters sent today.
