Rose at 6 ― tho’ unwell ― & worked at Greek till 8¾. Breakfast. Began the 7th picture, Ζαγώρι ― but at 12 ― the new man Ferendrios not coming, I sent, ― & found he was ill. Much disgusted at all this worry, & sent to Campbell for the address of his Teacher. Pouring wet day. Worked on till 5. Called at Mrs. Saunders’ ― M. Grasset there, ― at 5¾ ― set out to walk & met L. who went back with me ― meaning well I dare believe ― but mute. Tραμπάκολο1 & shore. ― Cloudy ― & warm, but not wet. Returned to dine alone. ― Heavy & weary, & suffering from my foot, which has something a matter with it ― giving great irritation & pain.
