Cloudy ― & early ― raining. Rose at 7½ ― & did a little Greek. After breakfast ― set to work on the 8th (Philates,) picture: & ― lunching on olives, ― worked to 3½ ― when F.L. came & wanted me to walk. ― My foot had been easier, ― so I went. He told me of B.’s raise of salary &c. ― & of his own intention to ask for his &c. ― We went on to Govino nearly, & up the Curcumelly road ― but my foot was very bad ― & inflamed before we got home at 6.40. ― Dined with him, Ormsby, Bromley ― Gage, Barr, Rice, Arbuckle, Douglas, Hamilton, Vesey ― Ambrose. ― Extremely good dinner. ― & all very pleasant in every way. They went at 11 ― & I sate with F.L. for a good bit. ― Home at 11¾.
