Great thunderstorm from 5 to 8. ― Then pouring rain. Finished 3 alphabets for litt[l]e Gage, Shakespeare, & Reid.1 ― Painted a little. Chilly & unwell. ― Stavellos’ 3rd lesson ― rather more agreeable. ― At 5½ walked partly to 1 Gun ― rainy at times ― black stormy, windy, lightning. Found letters from Hansen & Crissy ― & Gage. ― Dined. Wrote to Ann & C.F. ― note from F.L. ― Stanley is Col. Sec. ? ――

The alphabet drawn by Lear for my great grandmother, Ida Néa Shakespear, was sold on behalf of my grandmother by my uncle in the 1950’s. I don’t know how much it raised.
