Masters ― Macbean ― &c. ― & paid bills.

Muddy ― slept amain. At 3 Macann came ― & had a late paper in which [per] Gazette I see that Moreton Bay is made a Colony ― X

Later ― at 5½  ― walked with amiable P. Williams, who is always even, & pleasant. I never remember to have seen any man’s temper so improved as his. ― At 7½ dined at Pal. Braci.3 The D. & Lady of Sermoneta were there but went away. ― Only Mr. Grey, & I talked a vast lot, absurdly. G.’s opinion of Lord Stanley’s [countenance] was sad enough. The “bitter” of the Grey nature always comes out. ―― However, ― the evening was not deplorable ― as most are: ― & afterwards I sate a good deal with I.K. ― but this is a sad duty.
