& after all that writing it was 3. ― Too many “public” were bathing ― so I went not to the sea. And at 3¾ I walked being dressed in black, to Hastings. Perhaps this quiet life may do me good ― God grant it may.
The dinner & evening at G. Scrivens’s was very pleasant ― in a way. ― Later W.S. came in & at 10¼ I left & walked back to this quiet place. ―
