Rose at 8. Packed. Thick fog.
Left the kind dear nice Parkyns’s, at 10. In a basket chay to Lowdham. Rail to Newark ― but arrived too late for Xpress train. Much disgusted had to wait from 12.30 to 2.30 at that odious place. Bought paper ― & newspapers & lunched. Rail to E. Retford, & stopped again. Then to Sheffield by 4.30 ― & had to wait till 6.30 when a vile stopping train took me to Manchester by 10 P.M. Came out in a fly to Fairbairns ― but was “utterly outworn” by asthma & fatigue ― & could only go to bed.
