Sent letter to C.M.C.
A good deal colder, & cloudy all day: & it doubts me if it will do for Campagna work at present.
At 10 I went to Macbeans, & other places till 12.
Worked at Mrs. Clive’s Dead Sea, & Sandbach’s Palemo till 3. Hired a Piano for 4 dollars a month. ― Then called on various people ― Reynolds ― parish ― Newbolt, Dessoulany, Gibson, all out. Coleman only I found at home: ― better in health & less deaf: but irritable, & no wonder poor fellow. Then I walked alone ― (or with Col. Bowen ―) till 5½.
Dined alone, & taught George a verb ― & wrote to C.F.
