Sent letters to F.L. ― Col. Hornby ― & T.G. Baring.
Letters from Col. Hornby & F.L.
A very “degrading” day: most beezly! ― violent pouring rain & wind all day long.
Kitchen, full of water. Day so dark no work was possible.
A short note from F.L. ― & a letter from Col. Hornby enclosed, ― & a bill from B. & Bush.
Worried & raved all day at these shit-begotten Roman filths, who make me pay 90 dollars a quarter & will do nothing for my comfort.
Dined alone.
Penned out a Lebanon drawing. ―

“Beezly!” The runcible man has done it again! Possibly a portmanteau–“beastly” and “breezy”?
This is an unusually frank entry entry because of “shit-begotten,” a lovely phrase, in its way.
