o dear dear! ―
Rose at 5½ & wrote till 8. Breakfast is never very pleasant at Woodberry. Ralph is a very nice boy ― dear little Mary looks unwell. ― Miss Staples seems a good governess. Long discussion with W.N. about M.A.C. ― whom he is resolved to write to. I do not think it will do.
At 10 to Camden Town: Dalzell’s [sic] ― & was pleased with their woodcuts. Rimbaults ― Woolner’s ― out. ― Col. & Mrs. Leake ― very kind & nice. Foords ― & other places ― & by 2 to Rail ― & to Lewes by 46 [sic]. ― Went to a flower show, wh. was very pretty: & saw H.T. & F. Catt & others. Dined with the Hunts, & to St. Leonards by 10. ―
