Very windy ― thick fog, & heavy rain.
Painted a little at Theatre of Petra, Corfu small, & Campagna. ― & at 4 it cleared up suddenly ― & at 5 I walked to Hastings.
LO! THE GREAT EASTERN!
I was at the George Scrivens, & on account of Mr. Brunel being ill at the Marine Hotel she tacked & came near enough for us to see, with glasses, the people on the Paddle wheels.
I never saw so fine a sight.
Came back to tea & fish.
Wrote journals ― but the sea, & an old man singing bully me & I can’t go on. Face better.
