Frightfully cold. Letters from T. Potter, Mrs. W. Scrivens. ― Pouring rain ― & leaden sky. ― Wrote Judaea journals ― I wonder if they will ever be published?
At 2 ― lo! a most frightful & appalling spectacle ― a heavy fall of snow!! ― So I ordered a fire ― for it was not possible to do without one.
At 5 ― bitterly cold ― but holding up.
Walked to Hastings ― & meeting Henry Holland by the way, ― with him partly. ―
At the G. Scrivens, Mr. Whitmore an exceedingly pleasant & informed man.
Played & sang a good deal. Walked back by 11.
