O dear! What a worrying world! ― all hustle. Rose at 7. Breakfast with all, & the H.J. Sandbachs went. Both he & W.S. subscribed to the Bassæ. Letter from Foord, ― the Bassæ has come! ―― Went at 9 to the Edwards & hung the 2 pictures. Most strange man! Poor Mrs. E. ― I left them all with many emotions. ― Returned to the W.S.’s & staid there till lunch at 12½ . ― Very real & kind people.
Rail, At 1.15 to Liverpool rail. ― Passed Winwick & so on to Warrington & Crewe, the Potterses ― & Derby by 5½. Allestree by 6/15. ― Dinner, all the Gisbornes: Mrs. G. very unwell. ― All kind. ― Shewed Palestine drawings ― for the last time at present. Letters from J.B.H. ― F.L. ― Mrs. G. Scrivens, & T. Potter. ― Had to sit up a long while to write. ―
