Slept of course well ― & early ― “[gr.],” of Γιώργιο was pleasant to hear. ― A smash of a carriage immediately below here made me look out of window & catch a cold. ― Breakfast ― al solito ―: apparently Giorgio has not been away a week: ― so exact & constant in his ways. Called at the Angleterre, & then returned to work, wh. I did all the day ―― making tracings for Musters’s 7 drawings (X) ― Church’s 2 (XX), & Cross’s 1 (XXX).
At 4½ I went, left a card & letter at the Knights, & walked over the Pincian at sunset, ― seeing Story.
Dined at the Angleterre ― Kennedy ― a really learned & modest man: ― Clark. ― Pentland. ― & Newton.
I went upstairs with the latter, & saw various Φotographs of Boodroom1 &c. ― & had a good deal of talk about Consular affairs generally. ―
(X) Musters 7 drawings ― finished after many takings up & leavings off ― & carried to Annesley, Nov. 30, 1860
(XX) Church’s 2 ― sent home some time in Sept. or Oct. 1860
(XXX) Cross’s 1 ― still unfinished Nov. 12, 1860.
Nov. 12 1860.
