Rose early. ― A bad head cold. ― Heard George read a little. ―
Went to Church. ― Mr. Thomas preached an absurd sermon about responses, kneeling &c. Walked back with Dr. Kennedy & Mr. More. At 2, went with them & C. Newton in a carriage to C. Metella,1 & thence to along the Appian Way nearly to the 5th mile. Returned.
Ach! the pink & purple lights ― & the widely striding Acqueducts! ― & the snow sunset lit Velino2 over those calm plains of Marsica!3
So we came back. ―
I dined at the Angleterre, Dr. Kennedy, More, & Clark. ―
The former only is delightful.

Thank you so much for publishing these, have heard so much about how Lear loved Abruzzo now it’s great to read it too
