Sent letter to Dickenson.

Neither wet nor dry ― but damp & cloudy & fithy [sic].

Worked ― very well, at the 2 Palermo.

Letter from Dickenson, which I answered. I think I shall stay here till May ― & then go, taking G. to England. First painting a large Cedars of Lebanon for Manchester ― & if possible a Baalbek for Liverpool. Then London ― ― & in October to Palestine for the winter. But then things are dim enough yet, & far. ― Young Reilly called.

At 4 walked (dreary black damp cold!) with Forster (Miss Earle’s husband, ― & I remember but too well Mrs. W. Earle’s kindness to me so many years back, when [one word blotted out] was married!) ―

To the P. Pia temple ― gray & dark ― & altogether unpleasant. ― F. gossiping & small ― but one ought to be “tolerant!”

― Dined alone: & finished ˇ[the last of] all the large Syrian drawings. ― ――
