In 1854 Holman Hunt was with the Messrs Beamont in Usdum for several days and them went with the to Jordan: he produced the Dead Sea at Sunset, ie “The Scapegoat” (W. Smith, ed., A dictionary of the Bible. London: John Murray, 1863, vol. III, 1177-8).
